100 Experts report on Energy-Efficient Building
13th International Passive House Conference on April, 17th-18th in Frankfurt / M.
100 speakers from around the world will convene at the 13th International Passive House Conference in Frankfurt am Main, to present and discuss new trends, products and developments in energy-efficient building. This year´s conference focuses on themes such as Public Buildings, Public Initiatives to Promote the Passive House Standard, Refurbishment and Non-residential Buildings. The variety of reports at the conference is proof of its scope: they include i.a. the Passive House Standard appliance at public indoor swimming pools, Passive House solutions for retirement homes and information about the currently largest ongoing Passive House project, the "Lodenareal" residential unit in Austria.

Passive House Worldwide

The Passive House Standard continues to spread rapidly beyond German-speaking borders, and some workgroups at the 13th International Passive House Conference will examine implementation of the Passive House concept in places as diverse as Korea, USA, Spain, Slovakia and Scandinavia. Based on the Passive House concept, speakers will present analyses of energy-efficient solutions derived in widely varying climatic conditions.

Passivhaus Resolution

Frankfurt is not only Germany's financial heart. The decision to hold the conference here is logical, since several hundred Passive House residential units have been built in this region in recent years, as well as schools and day-care centres. Conference participants will visit many of these buildings via excursions.

This favourable development can be attributed to the municipal resolution to reach Passive House standards for all municipal new construction and building refurbishments. The conference will be opened on April 17th 2009 by the City of Frankfurt's Mayor, Petra Roth and by the Chairman of ABG Frankfurt Holding GmbH, Frank Junker. Like the City of Frankfurt, ABG is committed to reaching the Passive House standard as a residential building company, having built more than 600 housing units using this most progressive construction method.

Passive House Components
Proven Passive House components include very high levels of thermal insulation, highly efficient triple glazed windows, ventilation with heat recovery and a simple but innovative heating system. These components combine to achieve heating energy savings of around 90%, compared to average consumption in existing residential buildings. A wide range of Passive House building components will be shown at the Passive House Exhibition at Hall 5.1 of the Messe Frankfurt. Here exhibitors will present the latest systems and products in energy-efficient construction at this, the leading Passive House trade show (exhibition area of 3.000 m²). Both exhibition days are open to visitors free of charge.

Beat escalating energy costs! Passive houses allow for more comfort and lower energy demand: Intelligent solutions for old and new buildings will be on show at the 2009 Passive House Exhibition in Frankfurt:

Building companies, specialist federations, architecture and engineering offices
Producers of windows (like BIEBER ), doors, ventilation systems and insulating materials,
Providers of building parts, whole solutions, house technology systems and solar companies
They present building components and products which reach the top standards for energy-efficient building through high quality and innovative technology.

Entrance to the exhibition is free for all visitors.
Conference and exhibition take place directly next to each other in the Messe Frankfurt.
